Professional Work: Collaborative Architecture
Could a social housing scheme break away from the universal foot-print’ generally associated with the typology? Could a totally modularized design be quite unlike a stacked set of boxes, but creates a social space?
Tiny Homes
Core of the design concept revolves around giving space back to the community, which encourages interactive enhanced community living, with emphasis on sustainability.
The design uses Wood as the construction & finishing material, addressing the climatic conditions of Chicago and the budget constraint put forth as a part of the brief.
There are 3 types of units- Two linear modules with highly flexible internal configurations. The Ground floor units have been designed for universal access making
the project universally Accessible. The split level unit has been proposed to respond to the age group’s affinity for ‘attic living’ and to bring in diverse space program into the project.
Pergolas, act as space defining elements than as climatic interventions, connecting the blocks and de-fining the public spaces between them.
Ten units have been configured into 3 modules arranged site to gene a central community space, interspaced Patios and 2 community terraces, which could act as solarium and gathering spaces.
